Scattered showers and thunderstorms will be the theme today. Some of the storms could go severe this afternoon across east Alabama. As of his writing, a warm front extended from Huntsville, Alabama to Auburn, and will continue to push north. The moist air behind that front will provide better conditions for possible severe this afternoon.

Instability values remain high as our next and more robust storm system moves in tomorrow.  The Storm Prediction Center has now upgraded our severe risk to Enhanced with all modes o9f severe weather possible.

Enhanced (3 out of 5) Risk Tuesday

Monday: Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly before 4pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 78. South wind around 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts between 1 and 2 inches possible.

Monday Night: A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 10pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 68. South wind 5 to 10 mph.

Tuesday: Showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 10am. High near 79. South wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%.

Tuesday Night: Showers and thunderstorms before 1am, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 1am. Low around 65. Southwest wind around 5 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%.

Wednesday: Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm before 1 pm, then a chance of showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 75. Chance of precipitation is 60%.
