Happy Mothers Day!

One final day of sun!

Surface ridging has weakened across Central Alabama which has allowed dew points to increase in response to the warmer/moist airmass building. In between systems, we will have increasing pressure gradients, and some gusty winds will be possible this afternoon. However, winds should remain below wind advisory criteria for today.

Storms arrive late this afternoon across northwest Alabama. This line of storms should decrease in intensity over Central Alabama during the evening hours as the main energy pulls away. We have a small window in the late afternoon and evening ahead of the front across the NW sections of the area where there will be enough forcing/instability for a few strong to severe storms with winds and hail being the main threats. Storms should begin to decrease in intensity as the system progresses E/SE during the evening. Showers and thunderstorms will be possible across all of Central and East-Central Alabama tonight ahead of the front as it progresses with some heavy rain at times. potential today.
